	TOP 1	SPITAKI - beach Restaurant and beach Bar on the Psalidi road, first beach bar lefthanded after the Marina. Excellent decoration, excellent relaxing, relaxing background music, excellent waiters, excellent food! By far the nicest location for an extraordinary dinner! Good selection of excellent wines in the middle price range! Opens in the morning till late. Find white sun-shading umbrellas and Teak-sunbeds (not the ugly, dirty plastic ones, like elsewhere!), white sand, cleaned daily. Pebbled sea ground. Good choice of simple basics from the kitchen during the day or more sophisticated dinners for a romantic evening! Dine on the sandy beach in the late evening, prevented from the (noisy) road by the Spitaki and some distance! A recommendable experience not to miss! Reservation recommended!
	TOP 2	Archogyros - on the corner to the Agora, leftsided of Archaeoligical museum Simple greek basics - Gyros Pitta and all that stuff... Don´t be disappointed by that very simple place: the excellent basic food and always fresh (they sell so much, it´can´t become old!). Always full, even in winter frequented by locals! Take away, deliverance service. Not for sophisticated high fashion dining, but eliminates your hunger with true, honest and simply good, fresh made greek food in big portions (!) and quality at it´s best! Friendly and fast waiters, you´re welcomed to come, eat and go ... just what a hungry stomach needs!
	TOP 3	Platanos Restaurant lunch or dining under the leaves of the famous 3000 year old Platano-tree near the castle, behind the police station. No noise, nice view to the old Mosque, the ancient Agora parc and the Hippocrates´Platano tree. Very good and extraordinary menue card! Friendly and not-obtrusive but attentive service! Not the cheapest place, but the extraordinarity of the menues is good value for money!
	TOP 4	Mezzaluna Ristorante located in KOSHOTEL opposite the Marina Definitely the best sicilian Pizza of Kos! Mostly attentive, friendly service , which (to mention it) sometimes could be a little more client-oriented and reduce own objectives.... Unfortunately the noisy Psalidi<->Center-road in front, but one can and should forgive such small neglicts, because the food is very good!
	TOP 5	Petrino Their own benchmark is "to be the best restaurant in Kos". Indeed a very nice renovated stone-house with greek decoration, where one as well can dine nice on cooler days (spring, late autumn and winter). Beautifull and quite garden tables on varying levels. Kitchen very good, but not overwhelming and image to be a little sophisticated. Waiters impressed to feel a little more important than their clients. When one asks for a wine, he asks a qualified recommendation and not an order to drink the wine, the waiter decides for him... However- very nice, quite location with an extraordinary selection of specialities!
not ranked but try them		Lofaki located on the upper "terrace-hills" above Kos, they call themselves "Theater", but the only "Theater" is a flatscreen-TV. However: one has the "Theater of gorgeous views over Kos". Very windy terrace, try a calm day! Don´t miss this at least for the views! Greek restaurants on the beach of Psalidi several small restaurants on the beach offer simple and reasonable greek standard food with a view to incoming ferries and the close turkish coast Aktis Art Hotel Bar & Restaurant as the Hotel itself, the bar and restaurant is very sophisticated and Hot Spot to see and to be seen. Very nice seaside terraces without road noise! Inside, unfortunately, as everywhere in Greece, very smoky from cigarettes... the menue is good, the preparation varies from very good to just cold or and heartless heated (not cooked, just "make it hot"... that´s not "cooking). However: good for a drink on teh bar or the terraces, coffee comes with a piece of cake for free Ice cream at Zacharoplasto in Aktis When you are in Aktis or nearby, don´t miss the icecream in the bakery on the right corner besides the pharmacy! Open all year with good breads and other bakery stuff and sweets as well The Village In the Megalou Alexandrou Street, that is the one that leads from port out of town, in summer a small greek reastaurant offers very reasonable homemade greek food - run by the owner Dimitris Stafilas. Unfortunately the road is a bit noisy, however, Village is close to the port and city and service and kitchen are attentive, prices are very low for the quality served! Swede Cafe near the post office a swedish styled Cafe with "northern sweets and pastry", excellent Coffee, WLAN, nice terraces with a view down on the people passing by.
